The short version
We read your school emails and the documents you photograph in order to find dates. We keep the dates. We do not keep the emails or the photographs. We do not sell anything about you to anyone, and we never use your data for advertising.
What we store
- Your email address and the timezone you're in.
- Your children's first names and schools, as you typed them.
- For each date we find: the title, the date and time, an optional location, a one-line description, and a short preparation note.
- Which email senders map to which child, so we only ask you once.
- Your subscription status. Card details are held by Square, never by us.
What we never store
The body of any email you forward, and the image of any document you photograph, are held in memory only while we read them, then discarded. They are never written to a database, a file, or a backup. No human at Fridge Scout can go back and read your school mail, because there is nothing to read.
We also never store attachments, contact lists, or anything from your mailbox that you did not forward to us.
Google account access
Signing in with Google gives us your email address and name — that is all. It does not give us access to your Gmail, your Drive, or your calendar.
If you later choose to connect your calendar, we request permission to write events and nothing else. We cannot read your existing calendar entries. If you later choose to connect Gmail, we request read-only access, we never send, delete, or modify anything, and we only look at messages to find dates.
Fridge Scout's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. You can revoke our access at any time from your Google account, and we detect that and stop.
How long we keep things
Captured dates are deleted 180 days after we find them. Deleted means deleted, not archived. If you cancel, we stop capturing new dates but we do not delete what you already have — so that if you come back, it's still there. Ask us to delete your account and we remove everything.
Children
Fridge Scout is for parents and guardians. You must be 18 or older to hold an account. We do not market to children and we do not collect anything directly from them. A child's first name, entered by you, is a label we put on a calendar event — it is not an account, and there is no login for it.
Who else sees your data
We use a small number of services to run Fridge Scout: Supabase (database and sign-in), Google Gemini (reading documents to find dates), Resend (receiving and sending email), Square (payments), and Vercel (hosting). They process data on our behalf under their own terms.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not build profiles of you or your children.
Your choices
You can regenerate your forwarding address at any time, which instantly stops the old one working. You can turn off forwarding in your own email settings without telling us. You can cancel from your account page. You can email us to get a copy of your data or to have it deleted.
